Development and management of the information system of Central European University
We are participating in the development and maintenance of the information system of Central European University.
The intranet-based system is running on a Linux server using Oracle as database platform. The programs are written in Java with PowerJ integrated development environment, although Perl and Microsoft Access components can also be found. The main goal of the system is the management of students at the university starting from the process of the admission, through grading, financial calculations, etc., ending at alumni affairs.
As an opening to the Internet during the latest developments Java JSP/Servlet technologies are also employed.
Java game development for mobile phones
Currently a freeware Java midlet is available. The program runs on Java-aware(J2ME) mobile phones.

| The game is played on a 8x8 board with two sets of
different colored discs. Players place their discs
alternately enclosing the discs of the opponent
horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
Enclosed discs change their colors to the color of the
opponent. If the player cannot enclose any discs of
the opponent then the player must pass.
The game ends when all the 64 cells are occupied, or two subsequent passes occur. The winner is the player who has more discs. In case of equal number of discs the game is a draw. |

The game is based on the classical Galaxians. The main goal is to prohibit the invasion of the UFOs with three spaceships. The player gets points for shooting UFOs, different number for each type. If the player shoots an attacking UFO it results extra points.
The spaceship of the player can be bombed by UFOs or they can collide into it. To be protected against attacks the player should move the ship horizontally. The difficulty of the game can be changed in five levels, which affects the number of simultaneous attackers. |

The african game is played by two players (North, South). Both players have 6-6 pits (bowls) and 1-1 end pit (awari). The game starts with 48 stones (4 in each pits, end pits are empty). The players sow their stones alternately in the following way: The player chooses a non-empty pit on his/her side, and sows the stones in that pit around the board, dropping one by one (skipping the original) counter-clockwise. If the last stone dropped into a pit of the opponent with 2 or 3 stones, the player captures the stones of that pit. The capture continues on the previous pits with 2 or 3 stones. If all the stones of the opponent is captured (called "Grand Slam") the game ends. Several other variants of this rule is also available. If the opponent has no stones, the player must make a move which gives him/her a move. If this is not possible the player captures all the stones. The game ends when someone collects 25 stones and wins the game, or both players collect 24 stones (draw). |

The game works similar to the well-known brick buster. The player should prevent the flipping ball from leaving the game area in downwards with the aid of a horizontally-moving stick placed at the bottom. While on the playfield the ball can collide with the bricks placed at the top, which causes their disappearance and some points.
Some bricks should be hit more than one times and the black brick cannot be eliminated with collisions. Progression to the next level takes places when all the eliminatable bricks disappeared. |
